Senior Sales Professional – Laser and Photonic Solutions

This role will primarily focus on fiber and ultrafast laser technologies from NKT Photonics, part of the Hamamatsu Photonics group.
The role
This is a senior individual-contributor position. You will own strategic end-user relationships, drive complex solution sales, and develop new relationships and opportunities across universities, national laboratories, and advanced research organizations. Time outside the office is expected to exceed 50%.

What you’ll do
- Build and grow a high-quality sales funnel focused on ultrafast, fiber, and specialty lasers (primarily NKT Photonics / NKTP products), with expansion into broader Hamamatsu photonics solutions.
- Develop and execute strategic territory and account plans.
- Lead customer engagements including site visits, demonstrations, and technical discussions.
- Act as a trusted advisor, translating research goals into optimal photonics solutions.
- Manage proposals, negotiations, forecasting, and pipeline using CRM tools
- Collaborate with Product Management, Strategic Marketing, R&D, and global sales teams.
- Represent Hamamatsu at conferences, workshops, and scientific events.

- 5+ years of laser sales, experience in photonics, laser, or scientific instrumentation sales.
- You hold a B.S. degree in physics, Photonics/Optics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Strong technical foundation with the ability to engage credibly with researchers and scientists and engineers.
- Trusted‑advisor, customer‑focused, with experience owning and advancing complex, multi‑stakeholder sales cycles.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
The target base salary for this role at commencement of employment is expected to be between $100,000 - $150,000 annually, in addition to commission and bonus opportunities. Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and qualifications.
